What's Holding You Back From Change?

So often, it’s our limiting thoughts that keep us from the change we desire. How often have you wanted to do something badly, then not followed through out of fear or uncertainty keep you from acting? When it comes to fitness - what’s holding you back from change?

When I first began practicing yoga, one of the main things that kept me from joining a studio was the thought that “I’m not flexible enough.” This fear almost made me not try and as a yoga instructor I’ve now learned just how common my thoughts were. You may not believe it now, but at the time I couldn’t even touch my toes! What I learned was that touching my toes didn’t matter. And, with time and consistency, I felt huge changes in my body.

When you think about staring a fitness routine, does your mind chime in with excuses like:

  • I’m too old

  • I’m not flexible enough

  • I’m not thin enough

  • I’m not strong enough

  • I don’t have time

  • I won’t know where to start

  • I’ll never be as fit as “XYZ”

  • It’s too expensive

What would happen if you let go of the narrative your mind created and started a new one? Let go of the lies your ego tells you out of fear. Remember we control our thoughts.
